  1. Using: TweenMax 1.14.1 The TweenMax docs say that setting TweenMax.defaultEase sets the default easing on TweenMax tweens. As far as I can tell, it doesn't work. Instead, it seems, I need to set TweenLite.defaultEase. (I've also noted that the default for TweenMax.defaultEase is undefined, but the default for TweenLite.defaultEase is Power1.easeOut.) It seems like this is a bug either in the docs or in the code.
  2. Hi, this is my first forum post and I'm hoping to get some help with an issue and learn more about GSAP. The project I'm working on is replicating a video game character select screen where the user can navigate through 3 characters (using the left and right arrow keys) which have idle animations until selected where an active animation will play on the selected character. I am doing this by using sprite sheets and SteppedEase in TweenMax. I have the navigation and idle and active animations on document ready working. The problem I am having is when switching to the next character. The way I believe it should work (with limited knowledge of GSAP) is to kill the idle animation on the element that's to be selected and return its progress to 0 before adding a new active tween to the element. The main issue at the moment is I cannot seem to kill the animation of the specified object. I have tried using TweenMax.killTweensOf() but this does not reset the progress and when the active tween is added it starts on the frame from which the idle animation was killed. I have recreated a demo with basic sprite sheets (note: there may be an initial delay in loading the sprite sheets in CodePen because I am using Dropbox as a makeshift CDN) and labeled the code I am having issues with with the comment "start here". There are two areas with this comment, one for killing the active tween and one for killing the idle tween. What I am asking for specifically is help in killing and pausing (pause(0)) the tweens in question. The way you will know if this works is if you wait until the sprite sheet in the boxes are at a stage past "1" in their images and then navigation to another box, the sprite sheet of the box you navigated away from should return to the first stage which should display the number "1" and stop the tween, the box you navigate to should also return to the first stage and stop the tween, the 3rd box should continue its tween. I hope this doesn't read like an essay but I wanted to try and give as much detail as possible on what I need help with and what I've tried so far. Again any help / guidance will be appreciated as I've been banging my head against my keyboard for the past few days. Thanks
  3. I'd like to flip the object being animated right when it hits each point in the bezier animation. I'm aware of onUpdate but that fires every frame. Is there a way to know precisely when a bezier point is hit?

  6. Hi there, Im essentially trying to create some cool rotation effect animations. I have linked my codepen. I want the top box to roll back out another way when you click '.top'. Roll our to the right would be perfect. I'm also trying to reduce my code footprint.. any help as to how I could possibly use more variable or a loop etc would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  7. I want to animate the home page of my website like this one : http://discoveroutpost.com/ I am using GSAP TweenMax function but unable to get the smooth animation like this. I am also trying the ScrollMagic Library for it but still no luck. Please guide how can I achieve this. Thanks in advance.
  8. Hey, When animating an unknown number of elements like so: var timeline = new TimelineMax({repeat:-1}), items = document.querySelectorAll('.item'), startDuration = 20; for(var i = 0; i < items.length; i++) { var myDelay = (i * 0.5); animate(items[i], myDelay); } function animate(item, delay) { var a = TweenMax.to(item, startDuration, { rotationZ:'360', ease:Linear.easeNone, repeat:-1 }); timeline.add(a, delay); } What is the best way to modify the duration/speed of an individual tween? Thanks
  9. I have this tween that repeats infinitely: var sparkleblink = TweenMax.staggerTo(".confetti", .5, {ease:Linear.easeNone, opacity:.2, repeat:-1}, .01); but I want to stop this animation after a certain point. I have a TimelineLite() which calls a function after the last animation: var tothebox = new TimelineLite(); tothebox.to(".scrollnotif", .1, {opacity:0}) // ** other animations here** // .to(".scrollnotif", .1, {opacity:1, onComplete:killthis}); Then I have that function that's being called onComplete: function killthis(){ sparkleblink.kill(); } Not sure if I'm missing something or what. Advance thanks for whoever is going to help!
  10. I have a website in which I'm trying to load the TweenMax tag; https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/gsap/1.20.2/TweenMax.min.js Everytime I try to do it, I get this: TweenMax.min.js:16 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'greensock' of undefined at Function.<anonymous> (TweenMax.min.js:16) at check (jquery.themepunch.tools.min.js?rev=4.6.0&ver=4.8.2:59) at new c (jquery.themepunch.tools.min.js?rev=4.6.0&ver=4.8.2:59) at t._gsDefine (jquery.themepunch.tools.min.js?rev=4.6.0&ver=4.8.2:59) at TweenMax.min.js:16 at TweenMax.min.js:16 But, when I load the TweenLite tag (https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/gsap/1.20.2/TweenLite.min.js) before hand, the TweenMax tag loads just fine. The website I'm trying to add this to is: http://www.pergunteaumamulher.com/ (it's in Brazilian portuguese). You can try to add the tag in the console to see the behavior I'm pointing out. Have you ever seen something like this? I believe it might be the same problem we have seen in here: Has it ever being addressed?
  11. Hi So i have multiple dom elements that i animate along an svg path ... for now ... looping clockwise works ... it loops forever but if i call reverse() .... it acts like a rewind() ... if it repeated twice ... it will reverse only 2 times .. not forever var timeLine = new TimelineMax({ repeat: -1, paused: false, yoyo: true }); timeLine.add(TweenMax.to(arrPeople[i], totalTime, { bezier: { type: "cubic", autoRotate: true, values: points }, force3D: true, repeat: -1, yoyo: true, ease: Power0.easeNone, onUpdate: function() { if (this.target == arrPeople[0] && !initialized) { let children = timeLine.getChildren(); if (children[0].time() >= totalTime - totalTime / people.length / 2) { timeLine.paused(true); initialized = true; } } } }), (i + 1) * totalTime / people.length); this is the code i use to create the timeline and the tweens any sugestions? thanks
  12. I'm trying to export a timelineMax animation as mp4 video using phantomjs. Everything works fine, but the animation speed is different on phantomjs. It's running too fast, 10-second animation completes in 2 seconds. If I timescale to 0.2, it works. Framerate is set to 24. Does anyone have an idea on what's happening? Thanks.
  13. I am getting a strange problem, i am animating a simple DIV along a Bezier path using scrollmagic. Everything is working fine, however when i reach the end of the animation, The pinned element which it is in, does a big jump. I have troubleshooted for hours and tied it down to the transition of when the animation is running it is using Translate3D property, then when it finishes, it quickly jumps to matrix property. It would appear that this switch in properties causes my page to jump. Is there anyway to stop the matrix property being applied, because the object stays where it is supposed to if i use translate3d to the last coordinates of the animation.
  14. Hi there, I am getting this error when I am opening this url in mobile and dragging bow to left." Error: <g> attribute transform: Expected number, "matrix(0,0,0,0,NaN,NaN)". Here is codepen url '
  15. First off, to the creators and participants of this product and forum. Thank you. I've used GSAP for a bunch of small projects. My current project is pushing my current knowledge of the library and I'm learning some awesome techniques. Here's my problem: I've got a timeline that zooms through series of images. I have a loop that adds tweens to to the timeline so descriptive content related to the different sections of the timeline will fade in and out in time. Also, if you click the corresponding button, the timeline will scan ahead to that particular point. All of this works except, after clicking to scan ahead, I need to re-add the tweens that fade the content in and out. Right now I am calling the function on complete that adds the tweens to timeline, but what happens is that the contents quickly cycle through as the tweens catch up with the timeline. I just want them added so that way as the animation progresses they appear in time. Please forgive the repeat js throughout my pen. I'm just trying to get my desired animation behavior locked down before cleaning things up.
  16. Hi, As the title says, just before starting the tween the background colour flashes to white. Only on Firefox. I've tried to '.set' and also '.fromTo' to 'force' the starting colour of the background but no avail. Browser: Firefox 55.0.3 (64-bit) Os: OsX 10.11.6 Device: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) Thank you
  17. Hi All, I've been using GSAP for 2 months now and It has saved me a LOT of time and headache. It is an awesome library. Recently I discovered that I can use Scroll Magic library with GSAP and I've been trying to make an animation using both of them. Here's the link to my codepen demo: The idea is that as we scroll down the page, the text "DESIGNWORX" should translate to the left and at the same time opacity should animate from 1 to 0. I've achieved that. The problem I'm facing is that I want to reverse this animation i.e the text "DESIGNWORX" should translate back and opacity animate from 0 to 1 ONLY when I reach the top of my page while scrolling back. I've tried to do that by using "triggerHook" method as you can see in my pen but sadly I've failed. I've also searched all over the internet for answers but all in vain. I was hoping if someone could help me in this regard. I'm not an expert in javascript and would really appreciate any tips or help. Thanks in advance! Ali
  18. Hey everybody! I've wanted to make this effect where I'm twinkling two stars, but as you can see in my embedded Codepen at the time of writing, I could only have them animate once at a time. I want to know if it's possible to have both of these objects animate in a manner which is a split second after each other, e.g. first star fades in and out and then the second star fades in and out, and repeat. Thanks.
  19. https://panike.pt/sustentabilidade/ Above website has really nice animation. If you see at the left side bullets. Those bullets gets filled with red when we scroll down and hover on them. They used top and translateY css property to achieve this but I am new to greensock and trying to create using greensock. Could you please help me. Thanks
  20. Hey guys, So I have a centered element, when I create a scene for that element and go to another page (same window, scroll a little) and then coming back, the element is not centered anymore. It is moved a little to the left, even though my tween has only up and down movement. I tried to replicate on codepen, doesn't work. The original site: https://alacreme.000webhostapp.com/alczzz3/index.html On the first page you see "pasiunea gustului..." that goes down when you scroll. This p is centered. Now scroll down, where you see a facebook link, click it, scroll down on it. Now go back to page and scroll up untill you see "pasiunea gustului" again it is not centered anymore, refresh to see. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. The code for the centering of p: position: absolute; top: 50%; left: 50%; transform: translate(-50%, -50%); The code for the tween: tween_slogan_first = createTweenMoveVerticalEaseNone(slogan_first, 1, 0, $(slogan_last).parent().height(), 0); function createTweenMoveVerticalEaseNone(element, tween_time, opacity_var, distance) { return TweenMax.to(element, tween_time, { opacity: opacity_var, y : distance, ease: Linear.easeNone }); } The code for the scene scene_slogan_first = createScene($('#acasa'), 'onCenter', $(window).height()/2, $(window).height()/2, true, tween_slogan_first, false); function createScene($trigger, trigger_hook_var, offset_var, duration_var, reverse_var, tween, tween_changes) { return new ScrollMagic.Scene({ triggerElement: $trigger, triggerHook: trigger_hook_var, offset: offset_var, duration: duration_var, reverse: reverse_var }) .setTween(tween) // pins the element for the the scene's duration // .addTo(controller) // assign the scene to the controller .tweenChanges(tween_changes); }
  21. Hi, Is it possible to animate a filled path so it effectively draws like the drawSVG plugin does for stroked paths? Will it be a case of having to learn how to animate SVG coordinates (if this is even possible?). I have seen a (somewhat complicated) method on StackOverflow on how to convert a filled path into a stroked path. Any tips / suggestions on further reading on how to create a 'draw' effect on filled paths would be wonderful (if it is possible to do). Thanks, Emily.
  22. Hi dear i have question .. i want to make website with full animation .. and i want to control all transitions . something like like below and i need have menu in top of my site and user after click on which of them something happen smoothly could you please how can i do it https://tympanus.net/Development/GridLayoutSlideshow/index2.html
  23. Hi If I use tweenmax and a couple of the plugins on a site - is it possible to combine all the 3 source scripts (for instance. tweenmax, cssrule plugin, drawSVG plugin) into one file to save on load times / http requests? If so how would I go about doing this, would I just cut & paste the code from all 3 un-minified files into one file, and then minimise the combined file? At the moment I'm just using tweenmax (which i then link to my main.js file for when I add tweens etc obviously) Or is this just a bad idea all round? Emily
  24. Hi, I'm not sure if this is related to the topic: https://greensock.com/forums/topic/15728-onstart-maximum-call-stack-size-exceeded-error/ I'm trying to build a fairly complex (I think?) multi-stage animation, and I've started getting the following error messages: TweenMax.min.js:16 Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded at d.h.add.h.insert (TweenMax.min.js:16) at d.q.add (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.k.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.duration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.add (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.k.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.duration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.add (TweenMax.min.js:14) TweenMax.min.js:1 Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded at d.k.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:1) at d.q.duration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q._remove (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.h.add.h.insert (TweenMax.min.js:17) at d.q.add (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.k.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.duration (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.add (TweenMax.min.js:14) at d.q.totalDuration (TweenMax.min.js:14) Presumably related, I can't get the latest stage I'm working on to begin. I guess as a newbie, I've a couple of questions for the more experienced Greensock users out there: Any idea what's going wrong here? Any thoughts on how I could be doing this better? I've cobbled together my current approach from forum answers / stackexchange etc, currently by using one main timeline and adding sub-timelines (via functions) at various label points. I don't need it to stop in as many places as I've added (thats mainly to help me approach it in sections), but I do need it to hold in the 'working' loop until restarted by controls elsewhere. Any help / thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    ScrollMagic - TweenMax vs Timeline

    I'm new to both Greensock and ScrollMagic and I'm running up against a wall. I'm trying to understand how to tween/animate some aspects of my site ie., transitions between frames but still maintain some of the control by having items react when the user scrolls. Right now my project only reacts the scroll movement but I'd like to be able to trigger section to tween/animate as it gives a nicer/non choppy display. Any and all feedback/help would be greatly welcomed so that I can resolve this dilemma. Thank You
