  1. Hey guys, This is not strictly related to the greensock, but also could be I created a banner which has video inside and the video is muted. Whenever my banner is showed, no matter if inside app or inside browser, on IOS, any other sound in background (such as music player) will stop. I know this is default behavior of the IOS (and android as well), but I also saw that some company managed to build banner with video which doesn`t stop background music, but I`m still not sure how. So my questions is - is it possible to workaround somehow this issue inside banner itself via javascript or something ? Maybe something like playing video through the canvas (already tried that didn`t worked), or separating video and audio, dunno. Is there hack or a way to play video that will not affect background music on IOS ? ! Thanks

    GSAP 2.0 Released

Note: This page was created for GSAP version 2. We have since released GSAP 3 with many improvements. While it is backward compatible with most GSAP 2 features, some parts may need to be updated to work properly. Please see the GSAP 3 release notes for details. We've been getting requests for better support of modern build tools. With version 2.0 we're pleased to announce a switch to ES modules via NPM which should make your building, bundling, and tree shaking even smoother. Don't worry, the UMD/CommonJS flavor is still available and the CDN serves the same browser-friendly files as always. If terms like "UMD", "ES Modules", and "tree shaking" leave you scratching your head, fear not - GSAP 2.0 will work like a champ for you (as usual). There are no syntax, API, or browser-support changes. None. The major version bump was primarily due to the switch to ES modules for NPM users, that's all. DOWNLOAD GSAP NOW NPM, ES Modules, Webpack, oh my! Modern bundlers like Webpack and Rollup just love to snack on ES modules these days, usually grabbing them from NPM. So GSAP 2.0 is extra delicious covered in its chocolatey ES module outer shell. (If you're not using a bundler or NPM, skip this section entirely) npm install gsap Then you can import individual classes like: import TweenMax from "gsap/TweenMax"; import Draggable from "gsap/Draggable"; TweenMax includes (and exports) many of the commonly-used classes so you can also do this: import { TweenMax, TimelineLite, Power2, Elastic, CSSPlugin } from "gsap/TweenMax"; (TweenMax includes TweenLite, TimelineLite, TimelineMax, CSSPlugin, RoundPropsPlugin, BezierPlugin, DirectionalRotationPlugin, AttrPlugin, and all eases except CustomEase, CustomWiggle, and CustomBounce) As a convenience, there's also an "all" file that imports/exports every GSAP tool (except members-only bonus plugins), so you can do this: import { TimelineMax, CSSPlugin, ScrollToPlugin, Draggable } from "gsap/all"; IMPORTANT: if your animations aren't working as expected, it's likely an issue with tree shaking which can be easily resolved by referencing any plugins you're using. Read more. UMD/CommonJS If your environment doesn't accommodate ES modules yet, don't worry - we've got you covered. There's a "umd" directory that contains...you guessed it...regular old ES5 UMD (Universal Module Definition) versions of the files which are compatible with pretty much everything (RequireJS, Browserify, etc.). So you could import them like: //get the UMD versions. Notice the "/umd/" in the path... import { TweenMax, Power2, TimelineLite } from "gsap/umd/TweenMax"; import ScrollToPlugin from "gsap/umd/ScrollToPlugin"; import Draggable from "gsap/umd/Draggable"; What about bonus plugins like MorphSVGPlugin? Obviously we can't distribute the members-only bonus plugins via NPM, so all you need to do is log into your GreenSock account and download the latest zip which has a "bonus-files-for-npm-users" folder with the bonus plugins. Then just plop that into your project, like maybe in your /src/ folder (or wherever) and import them directly. For example, to save some typing you could rename the "bonus-files-for-npm-users" to simply "gsap-bonus" and put that in the root of your project and then: import MorphSVGPlugin from "./gsap-bonus/MorphSVGPlugin"; import SplitText from "./gsap-bonus/SplitText"; You could certainly put the bonus files in /node_modules/gsap/ if you prefer, but most people don't like doing that because it makes things less portable/updatable. There's a brand new page in the docs dedicated to NPM usage. NEW: Custom rounding increments in RoundPropsPlugin Have you ever needed to round animated values to the nearest 10 or hundredth? With the new object syntax in RoundPropsPlugin, you can round properties to various custom increments, not just integers! Simply pass in [property]:[increment] pairs like so: TweenLite.to(element, 5, { x:600, y:100 roundProps:{ x:10, //round x to nearest increment of 10 y:0.1 //round y to nearest increment of 0.1 } }); Watch the video Demo See the Pen RoundPropsPlugin Update by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen. NEW: SplitText "specialChars" SplitText recognizes a new specialChars property that allows you to specify an array of special characters to protect. This is typically used for multi-character symbols like in some languages where there are pairs (or sometimes even 4 characters) combined to form a single character. See the Pen SplitText with specialChars feature by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen. No need to do this for most emoji's, though, because those are already supported natively in SplitText! We carefully monitor and answer questions there. Or feel free to contact us directly if you prefer. 3. I'd like to see if there's a way to load GSAP through JavaScript and then create a timeline after it's loaded and ready. I tried to use fetch + then to achieve this, but I think there's something I'm doing wrong here. fetch('https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/gsap/1.20.3/TweenMax.min.js') .then(function() { var tl = new TimelineMax({repeat: -1}); tl.to("#square", 1, {x: 300}) .to("#square", 1, {x: 0}) ; }); Th error I'm receiving: Uncaught (in promise) ReferenceError: TimelineMax is not defined I'm not sure if this is just a JavaScript error or an error with how GSAP needs to be loaded.
  4. Hi, Anybody can help me achieve the slider effect this firm is using? antoni.de I am new to using greensock. Thank you in advance! GH
  5. I've created an animated landing page for my portfolio using GSAP and ScrollMagic.js, but it's pretty resource intensive and I know my code isn't the most efficient. How can I modify the code to create a smoother and more robust animation? And how can my JavaScript be condensed and more efficiently written to avoid repetition? function pageScroll(e) { var clicked = e.currentTarget.id; if (clicked == "navWelcome") { TweenMax.to($('#mainNav'), 0.4, {x:windowWidth}); TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"header"}, delay:0.3}); }else if (clicked == "arrow") { TweenMax.to(window, 3.5, {scrollTo:{y:"#aboutMeFull"}}); }else if (clicked == "navAbout") { TweenMax.to($('#mainNav'), 0.4, {x:windowWidth}); TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"#aboutMeFull"}, delay:0.3}); }else if (clicked == "navServices") { TweenMax.to($('#mainNav'), 0.4, {x:windowWidth}); TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"#servicesConBg"}, delay:0.4}); }else if (clicked == "navPortfolio") { TweenMax.to($('#mainNav'), 0.4, {x:windowWidth}); TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"#portfolio"}, delay:0.3}); }else if (clicked == "portfolioBut") { TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"#portfolio"}}); }else if (clicked == "navContact") { TweenMax.to($('#mainNav'), 0.4, {x:windowWidth}); TweenMax.to(window, 0.8, {scrollTo:{y:"#contact"}, delay:0.3}); } } for (var i=0; i<navBut.length; i++) { navBut[i].addEventListener('click', pageScroll, false); } for (var i=0; i<navItem.length; i++) { navItem[i].addEventListener('click', pageScroll, false); } document.querySelector('#arrow').addEventListener('click', pageScroll, false); //Landing Page $(function() { var xTo = 1.15*window.innerWidth; var yTo = 0.5*window.innerHeight; var rocketTween = new TimelineMax().add([ TweenMax.from("#parallaxContainer #bg", 1, {backgroundPosition:"0 100%", ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.from("#parallaxContainer #starsSmall", 1, {backgroundPosition:"0 12%", ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.from("#parallaxContainer #starsLarge", 1, {backgroundPosition:"0 6%", ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #rocket", 1, {y:0, ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #cloudsFront", 1, {y:0, ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #cloudsBack", 1, {y:0, ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #comet", 0.5, {x:-xTo, y:yTo, delay:0.5, ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #logo", 0.8, {opacity:0, ease: Linear.easeNone}), TweenMax.to("#parallaxContainer #arrow", 0.07, {opacity:0}) ]);
  6. I am trying to reveal the black background only after the two red and blue canvases have completed the animation. But as you can see there is "leak" and the black ground is visible during the rotation. Also I'm learning to control overflow and have found this link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8837050/allow-specific-tag-to-override-overflowhidden , but theres something I'm doing wrong . Please Help.

Hi, This is broad question. How can I create something like the pen i mentioned through GSAP. (A detailed explanation would be really helpful as I'm a noob) Thank you in advance.

  11. I want the car to move after the bicycle has reached its end. (How to trigger a 2nd scene only after the 1st scene is completed ) Thank you in advance
  12. Hi, I stumbled across a website that is using GSAP (TweenMax, based on Wappalyzer) to animate its elements, and I found one specific animation really interesting. If you visit the website in Desktop (http://thieb.co) and arrive at the home page, click one of the projects and you'll be brought into the specific project page. If you see carefully, the project title animates from the home page position to the project page position, and the URL changes. But the project title element is still the same. I was just trying to figure out how to do this and I've been searching all over the internet for this. Since the creator of the website uses GSAP, I guess this is where I can start. Does anyone knows how to create a similar effect for that? Or can lead me to a place where I can learn how to achieve that effect? Thanks, Alfian
  13. Hi there, I'm having what I would have thought to be a common problem, but can't find a neat solution to it. I have created a simple recreation of it in the code pen below. Try dragging the blue draggable into the grey square, and when you are over the grey square allow the mouse to come outside the draggable slightly which will let the grey box expand. When the box expands the draggable is now far behind the pointer (probably the distance the box has expanded). I want to get the draggable to catch up with the mouse pointer. Have tried tweening by a calculated distance in the 'onDrag' hook, but this seems to cause it to keep jumping back and forth. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me, really appreciated.
  14. Hi, Is it OK to "assign" a timeline to an element with 'this' or a bad idea ?

    Draggable Div

Hi, I have this code on codepen, When I click on the Year, I'd like to move the active to the center, How can I do that?
  16. How can I achieve this scroll animation on the hero sections on this website - https://www.sapientrazorfish.com/ using scrollmagic and GSAP or any plugin you can direct me towards. My main aim here is to achieve the overlapping section and snap effect. Looking at my codepen, I've achieved the overlapping effect but can't just seem to make them snap on scroll just like the website. Any help is appreciated.
  17. I am doing HTML5 banner for Google Ad Words. When I add click tag , I am using button element ( binding the id into on click event ) instead of using a href and add the click tag directly (eg a href=javascript:window.open(window.clickTag)). Is anyone use button instead of hyperlink and validated by Google AdWords?
  18. Hello, i'm starting with the Draggable https://greensock.com/docs/Utilities/Draggable plugin and this is my achievement by now I am trying to replicate this Drag & Drop Library: http://sunpietro.github.io/dragster/ -1) Pre-Drop-Hint -> Highlight the area where you gonna drop the element -2) Smooth drop animation -3) CloneBase -> Only draggable option / Copy elements from here, no possible to drop options -4) Move / Adapt column -> If we want to drop an element between 2, the column would be adapted -5) Trash zone -> Only drop zone to remove elements So i started by the point 1 & 2, and it gets weird how the element is dropped. Also i realize that the elements are animated via translate3D, so in case i would want to get that elements dropped into my slots, i guess i have to move into the slot after the transition. as i said, the animation is weird, not smooth like this one, and the code is basically the same. So i have a clone-base at the top, and the elements would be draggables & copies from there, to put into my grid. Can you help me first with the Weird animation & the cloneZone. Or if there is a sample case ( i didn't find it i would love to use it as a guide ) thanks in advance.
  19. Hi guys. I'm a newbie to the forums and would like some help with changing (or disabling) animations to static images whilst in responsive mode. I am currently in the process of finding a web host for my work so examples will be quite bleak, but should be up shortly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. M
  20. Good day lads. I have a pressing question and I am hoping this is the right place to ask. Can anyone direct me on the general approach towards achieving scrolling like these on the following sites - http://fantasy.co/ and https://www.ramotion.com/. Generally what I want to know is how to listen for the onScroll event and scroll to an anchor or an element on the page such as can be seen from those sites. I've tried searching online but all the tutorials seem to be doing this on click of an anchor link whereas I want to achieve this on scroll. Anyone able to help?
  21. Good day everyone. I have just completed my personal portfolio site which makes use of GSAP. However, it seems the animations are not playing and so the page remains blank. Everything works fine on my local server but when I uploaded my website to the dreamhost servers, the animations no longer work. There are no errors whatsoever on the console. I contacted the customer service and was told that in my error.log file it says the folder where all my GSAP.js files are located cannot be found. But looking at my panel, all files were uploaded successfully. Ok, in order to be sure it was not just the dreamhost servers, I decided to try uploading the site to github servers and still the same thing. The site and all files uploaded successfuly but the javascript files are not running or located. I don't know exactly. And after looking at the console and the network in the google developer tools, there is no single error, it shows all files were uploaded successfully as there is no error. What may be causing this issue? I'm lost.
  22. Hey everyone. I am building a website using a drag and drop menu where a new page is opened when an element is dragged and dropped on one of the menu pages icon. It's been working alright for a while until today. It just takes me to the new page but page content doesn't load. This happens only in firefox. Everything works perfectly on all other browsers. I keep getting this error on firefox - NS_ERROR_FAILURE: TweenMax.min.js:15. I'm confused as at this point , I don't know how to move forward. Can someone help?
  23. I created floating input labels, however, I don't think the way I wrote the code is the best way and seems redundant. For example I'm targeting the same elements more then once in different functions and using 3 different timelines, two of which are the reverse of the other, can anyone suggest a better way of writing this so its more modular? Thanks!
  24. I'd like to say hello to everyone at the beginning. I'm a novice in JavaScript world and I have a question. I tried to create navigation for my first GSAP slider and I have no idea how to get started. I'd be grateful for all the tips. Regards, Novice
  25. Hello I am able to scroll the div from right to left side but I have to display the div linearly when scrolling the mouse wheel. The current code is not displayed liner.
