Greensock and WordPress and ATOM

Recommended Posts

Good morning,

This is my first day with Greensock.  My primary interest in learning it is related to WordPress website development. I notice that there is a WordPress GSAP plugin called LivIcons Evolution (https://codecanyon.net/item/livicons-evolution-for-jquery-the-next-generation-of-the-truly-animated-vector-icons/16131742?s_rank=4).  Do you know if this plugin has all the capabilities of Greensock or does it just cherrypick some parts?

A second question:  Does anyone use GSAP on ATOM?

Thanks

Hi @Engine44 :)

Welcome to the GS forum.

I'm not familiar with LivIcons, but it looks like they make extensive use of the MorphSVG and DrawSVG plugins.

https://greensock.com/morphSVG

https://greensock.com/drawSVG

By using LivIcons you won't have access to the bonus GS plugins for your own work outside of the actual icons from their set. You'd need a Club GreenSock membership for that. Here's a demo that shows what's included at all levels from free to Club GreenSock.

See the Pen djXzyR by GreenSock (@GreenSock) on CodePen

All the bonus plugins are available to try for free on CodePen. Here's some more info about Club GreenSock:

https://greensock.com/club

I'm not at all familiar with ATOM so I'd have no info or opinion about that. Maybe someone else around here can answer that part.

Hopefully that helps a bit. If you have other GSAP questions, let us know. Happy tweening and welcome aboard.

:)

This might be helpful for using GSAP with WordPress.

That's an interesting article that shows a rather specific implementation for loading js libraries with a plugin.

If you're just getting started with Wordpress though it's probably a bit much to digest. If you're experienced you can evaluate whether it's a good solution for you.

To use gsap you basically ad it like anything else to wordpress using enqueu:

Then of course you have to learn how to use gsap.

I would think in theory that if LiveIcons has properly licensed and is including the gsap with the bonus plugins then you could access them if the plugin is installed but they would only be available on the site it's installed on. This is just a guess though.

Did you mean the editor Atom: https://atom.io/

I wouldn't expect it would be different than doing anything else in atom with javascript. I don't use it.
