Juicy.. I'm looking forward to making tutorials!

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why it took me so long to join, a lot of people on my YouTube chan (@DesignCourse, nearing 300k subs!) have requested GSAP content.  The greatest UI animations I've seen almost always revolve around GSAP. Hopefully I will pick it up quickly!

Edit: I'm going to start learning asap, but if anyone has some recommendations in terms of courses/existing tutorials, let me know. Thanks.

Hi @DesignCourse :)

Welcome to the forum and thanks for joining Club GreenSock.

The Learning Section and Blog here on the site are excellent places to start.

Just reading the forum on a daily basis is an excellent education too.

After that, melt your brain by visiting @OSUblake's CodePen profile.

Happy tweening and welcome aboard.

:)

Welcome aboard, Gary! The other guys provided some great links to get you going, but I wanted to personally extend an invitation to post any questions you've got here - we love helping folks. This community is one of the best parts of using GreenSock, in my totally biased opinion. ;)

And of course let us know when you release any tutorials - we'd love to give them a peek.

Happy tweening!

Awesome! I just released one today:

I'm planning on covering several more, TimelineMax definitely being next.

So far, learning has been a breeze!

Nice job, @DesignCourse! The production quality and audio crispness are stellar. Very glad to hear that learning has been a breeze so far.

If you haven't seen it already, I'd strongly recommend checking this out: https://css-tricks.com/writing-smarter-animation-code/

I noticed you did several SVG-focused videos (not about GSAP, but other tech) which is great - perhaps it's an opportunity to kick the tires of MorphSVGPlugin, as it's pretty unique in terms of HOW it handles the morphing. If you try to do the same morph with multiple different technologies/libraries, you'll probably see what I mean. For example, MorphSVGPlugin easily handles when the start and end shapes have a different number of points...and it subdivides and figures out the most natural way to do things (it's common for other libraries to produce very awkward-looking results or simply not work when there are different point quantities). And we're about to add another new feature which you can get a sneak-peek of here:

I don't think any other tool/library offers that. :)

If your aiming to create tutorials that have broader appeal to the typical developer out there, timelines may be a great option. You mentioned in the video that you'll likely cover that soon. Great. If you're looking for a summary of some of the things that make GSAP kinda special (so that your audience understands WHY you're even covering GSAP), check out https://greensock.com/why-gsap

Anyway, nice work on the first tutorial! Keep up the good work. Ping us with any questions.

@GreenSock yep I'm planning on covering both of those.  In fact, tomorrow, I am releasing a TimelineMax tutorial using the previous lesson's project.

Ultimately, I want to release a full course using it in serious project(s).
