Amp Ads with greenshock

Google ask form new publisher on GoogleAds to use AMPHTML how can i load and use greenshock with AMPHTML ?

I don't think you can.

 

"AMP HTML uses a set of contributed but centrally managed and hosted custom elements to implement advanced functionality such as image galleries that might be found in an AMP HTML document. While it does allow styling the document using custom CSS, it does not allow author written JavaScript beyond what is provided through the custom elements to reach its performance goals."

Also "Transition and animation are subject to additional restrictions.    AMP must be able to control all animations belonging to an ad, so that it can stop them when the ad is not on screen or system resources are very low."

I think that if Greenshock team try to enter the greenshock into the AMP that will by great! greenshock have the best performance by far.

Thanks for asking about this.

 

As seen in the info ohem provided, its clear that a foundational principle of AMP is to heavily restrict what developers can do with their pages.

AMP is all about everything looking and performing the same way (to ensure super fast load time and performance). They don't want developers meddling around and coming up with new transitions / effects for image galleries, UI elements or anything else. 

 

The types of award winning sites (such as found in our showcase) that professional animators, developers, and designers love to build are pretty much what AMP doesn't want to support. 

 

Oh, and just a little note: it's GreenSock, not Greenshock

Hey guys,

 

I've been poking around the AMPHTML Ads Spec lately and noticed they had allowed a amp-mustache extension, I was wondering if it could be possible for an amp-greensock extension? Perhaps like TweenNano from the Flash days, a really reduced use case of GSAP?

Extensions are published by Google/AMP Project, so it's not something GSAP could just make. They are working on an Animate CC extension, so there is a possibility that they might allow an animation library if it meets their guidelines.

I just want to mention that if you're looking to create AMPHTML banners, TweenUI now supports exporting amp ads. So there's actually a way to use Greensock to build amp ads - since TweenUI itself is built on GSAP  (but the amp banners do not have any GSAP in them).

Nice that could come in super useful.

Are you seeing a big rise in AMPHTML banner usage? I still feel like AMP uptake is pretty low and only really gotten traction with much larger publishers/organisations.

Yes the demand seems to be increasing as Google is continuing to roll out their policy changes for HTML5 ads for new Google Ads accounts.
