Share Posted November 12, 2015 GSAP is easily the best tween solution for any language I've ever used. And now I find myself having to work more and more with Unity and I miss my GSAP. Will we see it ported in the future?
Share Posted November 12, 2015 Just curious, can it be written in JavaScript, or does it have to be C#?
Author Share Posted November 12, 2015 I'm actually not sure. I'm not very experience with unity yet.
Share Posted November 13, 2015 We've actually heard this sentiment from quite a few Unity developers. Unfortunately, we're not familiar enough with Unity to deliver a solid solution. Plus we've got our hands full with all the HTML5/JS stuff. Tons of ideas for pushing things forward. But I really appreciate the question and I'm thrilled to hear that you like GSAP so much. I wish I had a more favorable answer for you regarding Unity support.
Share Posted December 11, 2015 @GreenSock_team, Looking at Ringo's question, I realised that I often have these urges to use GSAP capabilities in other software not related to HTML/ JS stuff. I mean like bad urges!!!!! In my case I wished, not to long ago, to have GSAP superpowers in Newteks Lightwave3D application. As I'm currently doing 3d animation in there I found moments I could have staggered the hell out of things and sequence amazing animations which only lives in my mind, the GSAP way. Even thought you have so much control and complexity in any given 3D application just having these GSAP superpowers would improve workflows like it's nobodies business. You see what you've done to us Greensock? ps. Unity coding can be done using C# and Javascript. But that's where my knowledge ends to.
Share Posted December 11, 2015 Ha ha. Very kind of you to say. Sorry that GSAP has spoiled you so much and tainted your experience on other platforms.
Share Posted December 11, 2015 the GSAP libraries are wrapped in the animationJS library of Coherent-UI (As of version 2.4) which in its turn can be used with Unity

Share Posted December 17, 2015 Warning: this looks like a pretty clear violation of GreenSock's terms of use, so you might want to tread carefully. They charge thousands of dollars yet I don't think they have a GreenSock license. I'm not sure if there is other IP inside they're framework that's being misused. We'll reach out to them and see if we're misunderstanding something. If they were giving their stuff away for free, it'd be totally cool if they used GSAP. In fact, we'd encourage it. But it looks like they've got a different model in place.
Share Posted December 19, 2015 Glad we got to talk about this topic, otherwise we would have never known. Please keep us updated.
Share Posted August 18, 2016 Bump for interest. Has anyone used GSAP in UnityScript? It seems like it would work, at least to some extent. I know some of the features probably wouldn't work, but I figure the basic tweening of object properties should work. We were thinking about developing a project in Unity at work, and we're still looking at options for how animation actually works.
Share Posted February 17, 2018 A good 'somewhat alternative' to gsap in unity is DoTween, as it has a similar syntax. This being said as a greeksock/gsap users since the very early days of greensock. I truly wish to see gsap someday in the unity asset store. all the best
Share Posted May 18, 2018 As a Flash / AIR developer who is transitioning to Unity, I'd also love to see (and pay) for GSAP for Unity. While there are a number of tween engines for Unity, none of them really seem to come close to what GSAP offers ActionScript developers.
Share Posted May 18, 2018 Thanks so much for the kind words, @simonjkendrew. I wish I had better news for you - we don't have any plans for a Unity version, sorry We've got our hands full with the JS/HTML5 stuff. Lots of plans for it. Good luck with your projects. Happy tweening!
