Share Posted September 12, 2009 Hello!!! I've just been browsing the THE FWA (www.thefwa.com) website and spied a site which has a menu which scrolls up or down when the mouse rolls over it, no clicking required until you find something worth clicking on! I love the effect because it's so simple but (I'm still really, really new to actionscript otherwise I wouldn't be asking) I'm just curious to know if it's possible to create the effect using Greensock? Share Posted September 12, 2009 What's the URL of the sample? There are all sorts of menu effects possible. And yeah, you should be able to accomplish just about any animated effect using the GreenSock tweening platform.
Author Share Posted September 12, 2009 Hello! The link http://www.bloodstream.com.br/ then click on Oakley a small menu will pop up in the left hand corner then beside the Oakley menu is the scrolling menu. Louisa
Share Posted September 13, 2009 Can't seem to find it. There wasn't an "Oakley" to click at that URL, and I didn't see any menu in the left corner. I did see a menu across the bottom that interactively made things grow/shrink as my mouse got closer/further. Is that what you were talking about? Author Share Posted September 13, 2009 Sorry!!! I tend to walk away when a site loads (slightly slower broadband speed than I'd like) so I didn't even see the Oakley menu at the bottom of the intro! If you wait for the site to load then press 'Entre' then hit Oakley you'll see the very nice little menu. Sorry about that!!! Louisa
Share Posted September 13, 2009 Bummer. It won't work for me. I can't see the menu because the Flash Player chokes when it gets to that screen with: Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: http://www.bloodstream.com.br/media/swf/sanfona3dTween.swf cannot load data from http://www.websitedenied.com/d2006.asp. at MethodInfo-2973() at secaoProduto/montaProdutos() at secaoProduto/apareceNavegacao() at MethodInfo-2468() at Function/http://adobe.com/AS3/2006/builtin::apply() at SetIntervalTimer/onTimer() at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch() at flash.utils::Timer/tick() Sorry! Wish I could see it.
Author Share Posted September 13, 2009 oh! That's a shame because I wouldn't be at all suprised if they had used your tweens! There are lots of simple yet brilliant effects such as little drop down windows complete with flawless bounce ease functions and motion blurs. I'll find another example of a scrolling menu! Author Share Posted September 13, 2009 I've attached a screen capture from the same site of a group of photos/panels which scroll left across the screen when the mouse is positioned to the right of the screen, then vice versa, but the scrolling stops when the mouse is in the middle of the screen. Hope that makes sense! Louisa
Share Posted September 13, 2009 Actually, yes, I just checked the swf and they do indeed use TweenLite at http://www.bloodstream.com.br/! You can definitely do bouncing effects, motion blurs, and just about any animation effect with the GreenSock platform. I'd definitely recommend checking out v11 at http://blog.greensock.com/v11beta/
